Mark Collett Biography

DOB 19/05/68

Mark began training in Traditional Chinese martial arts in 1985 at the age of 17. He studied Wing Chun, Hung Gar Kung fu and full contact kickboxing.

After moving to Cheltenham from Bristol he began training traditional Jiu Jitsu where he first met Co –owner Tony Terranova. In 2001 Mark began training and competing in mixed martial arts.

Mark retired from competitive MMA in 2007 and began studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2008.

He began coaching at Fighting Fit around the same time and soon after became Co-owner with Tony.

He is currently a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu receiving this rank From Chico Mendes (Checkmat) in 2016.

Mark has competitive experience in MMA at amateur, semi professional and professional rules level.

He also has some competitive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu experience, winning gold at the British Open in his division in 2017.

He is also a cage side official (Judge) regularly working for Cage Warriors and UFC amongst other international promotions around the globe. He has Judged on many main events with some of the best MMA athletes in the world including Connor McGregor, Rhonda Rousey, Wanderlei Silva, Alexander Gustafsson, Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort plus many more.

Mark has also been qualified as a fitness coach and Sports Therapist since 1998.

He believes that long-term training in martial arts/combat sports improves health, self-discipline, humility, confidence and connection with others.
